My journey to losing weight and getting myself back on track
Hey everyone! I’m embarking on a deeply personal and exciting journey that I can’t wait to share with you. As I approach the milestone of my 50th birthday at the end of April 2024, I’ve set myself a challenge – to lose 50 pounds!
Yes, that’s right, it’s “50 by Fifty”! I will be documenting each step of this adventure, capturing the highs, lows, triumphs, and lessons.
This isn’t just about losing weight, but about embracing a healthier, happier me as I step into the next half-century of life.
I’m ready for the transformation and can’t wait for you to be part of this journey with me. Let the countdown begin!

I am on a journey to lose weight and lower my blood sugars. I would love to be able to get off all the medications I’m currently prescribed! This is to keep me accountable, and help me stay focused. I would love to be down 50 pounds by the time I’m Fifty – which will happen at the end of April 2024.
I will be going low-carb / keto for this, and I’ll be documenting my meals on Instagram and here on the website. I will also be keeping track of my weight. I would be 180 pounds if I can pull this off!
From my start date to the end of April gives me 44 weeks to love myself enough to give this a try. After the 50 pounds, I will still have more to lose – but I think just having a goal will help me a lot to focus and reward myself for being kind and caring enough to my body.

Time to Celebrate!
I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to do to celebrate those milestones on my weight loss journey. I wanted to focus less on food rewards and more on rewards that I’ve never done or do so rarely that it would be a great way to celebrate my weight loss milestones.
New Workout Gear
Treat myself to a new pair of running shoes, a yoga mat, or some comfortable workout clothes.
Book or Audiobook
Buy that book or audiobook I’ve been meaning to read/listen to.
Professional Photoshoot
I’d never thought of this one before, but once I reach my goal weight I could consider a professional photoshoot to celebrate my hard work.
Massage or Physical Therapy Session
These can be fabulous for making me less stressed out. Or if I get into more exercise, help with those more intense workouts.
Fitness Class
Try a new fitness class I’ve been curious about, like pilates, boxing, swimming or spin.
Online Course
Invest in an online course on a topic that interests me.
Spa Day
Spend the day at the spa, or create my own spa day at home with a warm bath, facemask, and some quiet time to relax.
Professional Photoshoot
I’d never thought of this one before, but once I reach my goal weight I could consider a professional photoshoot to celebrate my hard work.
New Music or Podcast Subscription
Consider a subscription to a music or podcast streaming service.
Travel or Day Trip
Plan a trip or a day out to a location I’ve not been to, but have always wanted to see.

Buy a piece of jewelry that I’ve had my eye on.

A little greenery to brighten up my space and mood.
